Anyone who's read this blog will probably have gathered that I'm not a registered member of the Haram Police, nor do I want to be. However, today while waiting for the bus with my mum, I saw one shocker of an outfit which I just have to show you:
It was essentially this..
..with one of these..!
I glanced at my mum as the woman strolled past with the rest of her family and then pulled my dress down and inch or two..

That really *is* weird. I don't understand it!
Best of both worlds, LMAO.

The first word that comes to my mind after seeing the 2 pics is, astaghfirullahalaziim. That's a violation of hijab and niqab. What was she thinking?
Perhaps she is not a muslim... just want to protect her face from the sunlight ;)
Wow, that is weird.. I thought I saw some strange dress sense in London, but wow...
LOL she couldn't make her mind up.
What a confused woman. I feel sorry for those women- ignorance is a bliss, but not in her case!
how horrible..I am sure men fancy her legs more than her face??May Allah swt guide her and forgive us all...
Salaam all,
I really love the first outfit? Is it haraam?? I definitely agree on the weirdness of the covering the face, but I think that the outfit in pic 1 is fine?
Im not sure though because I'm knew to modest dress.
Please help! Am I wrong in thinking that the first one is fine? in terms of modesty

Anon: Hmm, I suppose it comes down to what you are comfortable with wearing but I personally feel that the jeans and dress are too tight and show her figure which is not the point of Hijab.
Salam :)

Correct if the dress was a little loser, maybe just one or two size bigger & the leggings or tights, I've seen some girls having that look, but personally I find it in appropriate. Instead normal skinny jeans look better islam wise and if you are really feening for that look it sorta works that way too.
i feel like no one has the right to judge because some muslim women wear short skirts and tank tops. isn't it better that she is at least trying? maybe she is new to this and is still getting used to it. i'm not saying i don't judge but i try to keep it in my head and not say it out loud. and i'm not saying ure bad or anything like that. you seem like a great person but maybe we should all leave it to allah to be the judge.some women in hijab do not do the basic of praying 5 times a day, maybe that lady you saw does? you'll never know. i do not wear a head scarf and i always fear going to a prayer room or a mosque because people would judge me or discuss me and im certainly not proud of covering my hair but i'm trying i dress more modestly than i used to. so maybe try not to discuss that? you never know what's in her heart she might be asking allah to give her the courage to dress more modestly and she might have been one of those women in a bikini at the beach who have grown to become that lady in the picture which is obviously a good start.
wow..
