I recently came across a new Islamic clothing website, simplyzeena.com, that sells some really cute modest items. They sent me a lovely long hoodie to review. This is going to be a 100% honest review of the service, quality and value for money of the top and site in general.
Being 100% cotton the hoodie is very soft and comfortable. It reaches just above the knee (I am 5'6'') and what I really like about it is that it is not tight around the hips (though I did get a size up), which is a problem with long hoodies on the high street even if you do get a bigger size.
Here are some pics I took:
The colour is really versatile so it goes with practically any headscarf. I am currently liking the floral look so I paired it with floral scarf ^-^
What is great about this top is that is it long and loose enough to wear layer-free :D
Value for money: Considering the price of cotton as been steadily increasing I think $40 for this is a steal. The other items on the site are priced similarly. Overall, the top is good quality so I would be happy to pay that price on the high street.
Shipping: I have bought many things from the US before and this site definitely shipped the fastest. I was so surprised to see that it arrived in under a week. They are a new Islamic company so show them your support and check them out! :D

This seems like a great store. Not being Muslim, I think it could work for anyone who likes more modest, quality attire. I may have to shop here! Thanks for posting.
Is shipping to the UK free?
This looks like a nice website! It's so hard to find modest but nice clothes.
Kamille: No shipping isn't free to the UK :( I don't know how much it was but it will come up on the checkout when you pay.
LK: Glad you like :D
Anon: My bad about the cotton prices, last I heard was that they were sky high but that was a few months ago :S

Salaam alaikum, please could you remove the right click protection? I'd like to open tabs in new windows so I can see the sites you're talking about whilst reading your reviews, and also to open more posts whilst I browse to read later.
Is that okay? I just find it hard to keep tabs on the things I want to read and the sites I want to visit without doing that
I guess I'll stick to shopping from stores here then thanks.
really nice!! it looks chic and uber comfy!!

Anon: Done :)
Thanks for posting the review. Just placed order for a scarf and a wrap.
I agree - it's NB to support Islamic stores and reading a reliable review (from a decent blog site - yours is permanently bookmarked :D !) helps in contributing towards my decision to purchase.
Jazhakhallah khair + have a good wkend :)
Anon: Thank you! I'm glad that you like the blog :) and I hope that you enjoy your purchases!

Assalaamualaikum :)
Was wondering if you could do a post re: ordering from stores + customer service.
This is what I've experienced with the few stores that I have dealt with:
1) The USA/Canadian stores are more efficient with customer service, responding to emails + providing tracking details/shipping updates - essentially almost immediately after placing an order.
2) The UK stores have also been efficient with customer service + orders have been delivered in a timely manner.
3) One large Egypt store stated that it would take 2-4 wks for delivery via standard mail with no tracking (I took the cheapest option since the courier cost was more than my order) + Alhumdhulillah my order arrived safely on day 26 :)
4) The Gulf stores have been reasonably good with customer service + providing tracking.
5) The EU countries have not been so good with customer service. I found that right up until making payment, they were helpful with answering all the questions + in hindsight, it's almost as if they were just awaiting to make the sale. The moment I made the orders, I was told I would be notified when shipping would take place + be provided with tracking but I didn't hear from these stores. I had to send a few emails requesting what was the status of my order and eventually was provided with tracking details. When I checked the tracking details, I found that the one order was only sent out 2 weeks after I'd paid for the order + I'd paid for a courier service. The other order was only sent out a week after payment was made + has left it's country 2 weeks after payment was made. Both these orders consisted of ready made items- nothing was "made to order"/"bespoke".
My bespoke abayas from the Gulf arrived way quicker!
So my question is - can you please do a post on what is acceptable customer service, what to expect when placing orders re: shipping and what are appropriate time frames for the processing of an order? I know one must have patience but there's a balance between what's reasonable + when the seller has not been helpful.
My experience with the EU Islamic stores makes me not want to order from these stores again + I'm disappointed with the after-sales service.
But thumbs up to Zeena, Haute Hijab, Vela Scarves, YaztheSpaz, N-ti, Aab, Al-Kawthar, Akhawat, Inayah, Rabia Z + 2Hijab who have been excellent so far with customer service.
Apologies for the long comment! :)
Muslimah Shopper: Thanks for the info, it's really helpful :D

Do you know if you have to pay customs/taxes if ordering from simply zeena and you are based in uk?
Anon, I don't think so but you should get in contact with them just to double check.
