Pink Hijabs: Immodest..?

I came across this forum earlier talking about pink hijab day, mainly males saying pink hijabs were immodest and the whole idea of a pink hijab day was, and I quote, 'gay'. I've never never read such a whole load of rubbish in my life. Anyway, there was a poll where 44% thought that pink hijabs were immodest, 28% thought they weren't and rest were undecided. I mean there's one thing saying a skin tight pink dress coupled with a tiny little bright pink scarf and 6 inch pointy heels isn't hijab but to think that all pink headscarves are immodest is ludicrous and quite frankly makes me mad to think it was some stuck up man who wears want he wants that said it. On top of this, they completely ignore the fact that the whole point of pink hijab day is to raise money for breast cancer awareness, grrrrr! To prove these ignorant, judgmental people wrong, here are some pretty, pink and modest hijabs:

Not just a pink hijab but a pink abaya too!

Soo cute, I love this dusty shade of pink, I want that scarf!

Pink shamaghs all the way!

Smart hijabi, all in pink and still modest:

Muna's back, in pink of course and a cool tie-dye headscarf:

A very pretty and modest malay hijab:

And a pink prayer outfit for good measure, wonderful!

And lastly, a pink hijab outfit I made just for the occasion:

Pink Outfit ^-^

Hope you all like pink hijabs too! :D

I'm sorry but as soon as brothers start talking about "proper hijab" I start to zone out. I just don't think it's their place. They need to be very careful about coming off as oppressive, chauvinistic, and insensitive. I hear some sisters at the masjid talking about "my husband said this is improper hijab" etc. etc. and trying to impose that on other sisters. I just sit there thinking I'm a grown woman, I don't need a man to tell me how to dress. Seriously, these discussions are bordering on the ridiculous. It's disappointing that someone would go as far as to create a poll...

I too find the "proper hijab" argument really really annoying and especially so when I see brothers sporting shorts, tight jeans, gold, silk ties, 'gangsterwear' etc etc.

Pink hijabs are wonderful and its great for us to be supporting breast cancer awareness.

Its especially important for us to be sensitive considering that women who have lost their hair due to chemo sometimes wear scarves on their heads.

Very cute! I hate when some brothers go off on hijab when they should be tending to their own business.

I find pink hijabs really cute. I dunno what's wrong with it. The borthers are suppose to lower their gaze in the first place..

Pink is a colour! As long as it's covering what it should be, it's no different than any other scarf.

I like the pink scarves too. But I wonder why we are so upset at men's opinion of what modest is, when we are pretty much supposed to be dressing modestly on their account. Right? Of course I want their opinion. Now, if they're insincere or are being hypocritical and trying to attract attention, then I'll take that opinion "lightly". But it is something to consider - maybe avoid some of the more outlandish styles and colors to help them keep their eyes averted? What do you think?

Lisa, yeh i guess it's something to think about but we dress modestly for Allah not men also they should learn to lower their gaze regardless of what women wear. Zaenab xx

Immodest?! They look completely chic AND modest to me. We can't all wear black all the time, and even then, there would be some guys who find that attractive, women can't help that, that's why guys have to lower their gaze.

It really isn't a mans place to be commenting on what is and isn't proper hijab! (unless of course you've got a hijabi in a mini-skirt and tank top with her hair covered. Then they can comment on what is and isn't proper lol). as long as everything that should be covered is covered, they need to keep quiet! lol

Sheesh, the way some brothers comment, you'd think they were aspiring Vogue editors or something lol. What does it say of them that they're so interested in what we wear? Pink is a beautiful colour. Would they rather we wore neon yellow or eye-piercing red?

I wear hijab both as a religious and feminist statement, and no man (or woman) will Eva get to dictate how or wat I can wear. Did Allah say I cannot wear pink? Short answer:NO

Allah says in the Quan the best garment is righteousness... I think ppl need to get back to Allahs words. AllahuAkbar

"O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember." Quran 7:26
